HARTTIFACT: KAIJU BATTLE ROYALE

First off, thanks to Kurt Belcher for the name idea for this segment. Clever bastard.
Second off, this week, I'd just like to put up some of my favorite giant monster/robot pieces that dad did because the genre of "Kaiju" was always something near and dear to my father and this was passed on to my brother and I through his introducing us to some of our favorite shows and films of the genre. The second picture is in fact from a period where giant robot anime and movies was on heavy rotation in our household (this was the beginning of dad's addiction to eBay). I even remember watching a cheap copy of the then-new Tetsujin-28 movie with him and then being promptly disappointed.

BEACH HEADS: THE OFFENSE

Had an idea for a series of sketchy trading card type thingees.
Started with this guy and loved him so much I had to continue.
Meet "The Offense".

DUNKIN DONUTS NAPKIN SKETCH: GEE-TAR

A failed experiment in perspective.

"DEFY IT!"

Found this at a Salvation Army for three bucks a week or two ago and finally got around to watching it.
So awesome.

THREE DUNKIN DONUTS NAPKIN SKETCHES!

Scanner was acting nutty but it's good now!

SEAN ARTIFACT: BLACK GOLEM

Sorry I fell behind on doing these.
When I was real little, dad worked at a metal shop, cutting signs for supermarkets and whatnot. There are a couple of different doo-dads lying about the house that he made during his time there. This is one of them.

GUMBALLS AND GHOSTS

On the left, we got Benson from Regular Show and on the right, we got a video game called "Deadly Premonition" in the states and "Red Seeds Profile" overseas. The latter is the closest thing we'll ever get to a Twin Peaks game. It's pretty neat.

THE ABOMINABLE DANIEL XIII

Daniel XIII from Retroist and I are collaborating on a series of articles about old horror flicks for which I'll be doing posters for. The first one in the series, which is about "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" (a personal favorite) is up on the Retroist website.

Check it out by clicking this link http://www.retroist.com/2013/08/14/summer-is-the-perfect-time-to-watch-the-abominable-dr-phibes/

BOSTON COMICCON DAY TWO

Apologies for how late this post is. I needed a day to decompress.
Comiccon was a great experience. Lots of talent, lots of crazy, lots that I've learned for New York in October.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Sock Talk's Phil Healy and Jon Caron as well as Never Gear's Adam Black for their help and promote independent comic creators Tony Sedani and Rian Miller, two very awesome artist/writers responsible for the insane indie comics "Return to Rander" and "Man-Gull" respectively. I'd also like to shout out to the very talented Patt Kelley who showed off some real cool shit, comic writer Jennie Wood who showed off her book "Flutter" which seemed really interesting and outside of the box and illustrator Nick Mockoviak who was very helpful in giving advice and showed real talent and ambition in the projects he's been involved in such as "Hudson Valley Zombie Apocalypse".
Keep an eye out for updates on "The Illusory", the short film I'm making with some buds. I wrote the final draft of the script two days before I left for Comiccon and we'll be building props soon. It's gonna be cool.
I'll be getting back into the swing of things and regularly putting up new stuff on here so keep an eye out.

As I walked through the Con floor and overloaded my senses with things too awesome to be in one place, I could hear dad's voice saying "Awww, dude, you have to buy that!"

BOSTON COMICCON DAY ONE

Hoo boy, am I pooped!
Alright, so turns out I got the table number wrong. We're actually Table AAW27, all the way in the back.
Here's some sketches I did while I was there.

And that "secret" I mentioned the other day was this poster announcing the short film I've been working on with a couple of buddies.

The poster is available at Comiccon along with a couple other prints of mine and a million other prints of dad's.
I also bought a bunch of comics, Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2 and a Silent Hill game for the original Xbox that I just found out is incompatible with my 360. Thanks, Microsoft.
So, that's it for today. Be sure to come and visit tomorrow and buy some prints if you didn't today.
Otherwise, we're not friends anymore.
